The Faculty of Social Sciences is an active participant in the university-wide “Centre of African Studies”, a project funded by the “Rectorate of Charles University” to build strategic partnerships with African research institutions. This initiative fosters practical cooperation and ensures that Czech foreign policy towards Africa is informed by robust academic research.

Recognizing the continent’s rising strategic and economic importance, the Geopolitical Studies program is deepening its engagement with Africa through research, partnerships, and curriculum development.
Research and Mobility
Research and Mobility
We are actively developing cooperation with an increasing number of research institutions in Africa, creating pathways for students to travel to the continent for research. Faculty expertise is also growing, with recent research including policy papers on security issues and analyses of activities across the continent.
This growing focus was highlighted by the theme of our 2024 Annual Geopolitical Conference: “Africa at Geopolitical Crossroads”.
